Fluorosis
Fluorosis is a medical condition where your body is exposed to high levels of fluoride. In regular doses of fluoride (such as the regulated amounts in ADA-approved toothpaste and fluoride found in the drinking water system), fluoride is a safe and healthy for you and your child. Fluoride is a natural compound that remineralizes and strengths the teeth. This allows your children’s teeth to fight cavities and other dental problems.
Your child can also get fluorosis if your child ingests toothpaste by not spitting out the toothpaste when brushing the teeth.
Other aesthetic problems related to fluorosis are stained or abnormally darkened teeth. These symptoms may not be health concerns, but they can affect your children’s appearance.[1]
